These training methods will work on any horse -- EVEN YOURS

* Training
  • 6 months to 1 year: establish respect on ground; usually have under saddle within 30 days. Six-month-old not ridden. One-year-old rideable in controlled setting for SHORT periods with light-weight rider. De-sensitize to lots of stimuli (balloons, tarps, flying trash, waving seasonal flags, children running around, noises, rain coats, cracking of whip (simulates gun firing), etc.). Older horses also accepted for training.
  • 1 to 2 year old: Establish respect on ground. Start or refresh under saddle. Install engine and brakes. Install steering wheel. De-sensitize to lots of stimuli (same as above). Make trail safe. Free-jump over cavellettis, small jumps and small coops, for trail safety and in preparation for English disciplines.  Usually have under saddle within 30 days. Older horses also accepted for the same.

* Re-Training

  • Time required depends on the horse and the problem.
